Mobile Phone Standard
GSM 900MHz / 1800MHz
The Taiwan mobile network operates on GSM 900MHz / 1800MHz so check the GSM on your phone before bringing it with you. Regardless, phones in Taiwan are cheap.
The easiest way to obtain a cell phone is to purchase a GSM phone in Taiwan. Alternatively, you may bring one with you from your home country (ensuring of course that you have the proper MHz capabilities). Once you have the phone, you now have to decide which Taiwanese mobile network providers you want to use. At any mobile phone store, you may purchase a cell phone number for as little as NT$ 300 - where you will be given a simple form to complete before receiving your SIM card which will be activated within 24 hours.
